This session provides a comprehensive review of how to conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and develop an appropriate Behavior Intervention Program (BIP) for individual students. Participants will be provided information from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) guidance documents as well as the use of best practices to gather, compile and analyze data. Session will include hands-on activities to conduct classroom observations, role-play parent and student interviews, compilation of data into an FBA and analyzing data collected to determine need for a BIP. Various scenarios will be discussed - i.e., Whether or not development of BIP is warranted. If so, what does it include? If not, why not? If not, then what?
