Special Notice: This session is open only to educators participating in the Regional Education Consortium. School Division ID required at check in. Pre-registration required.
Participants will learn the basics of providing a guided outdoor experience, including relevant historic and environmental information about the area they visit. Participants will meet the instructor on site at 8:30 AM and help unload kayaks and gear to learn proper techniques. Participants will arrive back to the launch about 2 PM and will assist in loading kayaks and gear. Participants MUST BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH and water, which will be taken on the kayaks and eaten during the trip. There is limited parking at launch locations, carpooling is encouraged. There are no restroom facilities so participants are advised to stop at a gas station or other location prior to arrival in the morning. The paddle setting is wild and rustic with no amenities. Dress appropriately – shoes that will stay on your feet and that you don’t mind getting wet and muddy; clothes that will dry quickly – NOT cotton – and that you don’t mind getting wet/muddy; sunblock; drinking water, lunch, hat and any needed medication (diabetic needs, epipen, etc.)
