Special Notice: This session is open only to educators participating in the Regional Education Consortium. School Division ID required at check in. Pre-registration required.
The morning portion is intended to help upper elementary and secondary teachers feel comfortable using more and varied flexible grouping strategies in their daily classroom instruction. Discover how to put your students to work taking greater ownership and responsibility for their own learning, while also increasing engagement and long-term retention. Learn procedures, processes, activities and few tips and tricks to successfully “mix it up” in your classroom and move away from the daily grind of being the “sage on the stage”.
The afternoon portion is designed to provide practical application from information shared in the morning. Teachers should bring lesson plan ideas for which they hope to incorporate flexible grouping. Opportunities will be provided to work collaboratively to brainstorm ideas and share strategies and resources. Teachers currently using flexible grouping strategies in a variety of subjects (including math!) will share their struggles and successes with flexible grouping. Participants will develop a professional network of flexible grouping practitioners so you do not have to reinvent the wheel. You must attend the entire day to receive a certificate and potential license renewal points.
