This course prepares students to administer medications in Assisted Living Facilities. Students will learn and develop skills in:
Proper procedure for preparing, administering, and maintaining medications
Asepsis
Basic pharmacology
Assisting client with self-administration of medication
Documentation
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the Virginia State Board of Nursing competency exam for licensure as Registered Medication Aide. Proof of completing a CNA course or a 40 hour DCA or PCA course is required.
