Introduction to the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding process, also known as TIG or Heli-Arc. Lab and lecture provide theory and skills development in one of the most technically demanding processes. Emphasis is on safety, developing knowledge of the variables, multiple positions,   and application to the quality standards of the American Welding Society, upon which testing may be provided. Provides enhanced instruction on a variety of shapes, joint designs, and base metal types on which the GTAW process is used. Lab provides direct application with emphasis on safety and materials, while lecture provides insight as to the variety of possible base materials and welding characteristics. Quality conformance to code must be demonstrated prior to testing.
