Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding, often referred to as stick welding. Course provides lecture and lab instruction in safety as well as the necessary utilization of the SMAW electrode in multiple positions in accordance to American Welding Society specifications. Lab provides direct hands-on applications with multiple electrode types; lectures provide operational theory with emphasis on safety. Skills acquired in SMAW are taken to the next step toward successful testing in accordance with American Welding Society specifications. Lab and lecture environments provide enhanced skills development.  Students should expect an emphasis on safety, quality, and responsibilities associated with certification. Vertical and overhead weld testing provided to those individuals whose quality standards meet or exceed the requirements of the American Welding Society code.
