Special Notice: This session is open only to educators participating in the Regional Education Consortium. School Division ID required at check in. Pre-registration required.
This session will be conducted online via Zoom.
This professional learning session explores how to design and implement a math class that leverages small-group instruction and purposeful learning stations to create a more student-centered classroom. Participants will examine how to structure math time so that all students engage in meaningful, differentiated learning experiences.
Educators will learn how to:
• Establish clear routines that allow students to work independently and collaboratively in stations
• Design stations that promote conceptual understanding, mathematical discourse, and strategic thinking
• Use ongoing formative assessment to guide flexible small-group instruction
• Maximize teacher impact by targeting instruction based on student needs rather than delivering one-size-fits-all lessons
Participants will also explore examples of games and consider the difference between activities that deepen learning and those that simply occupy time. By the end of the session, teachers will leave with practical structures, ready-to-use ideas, and a clearer vision for how small-group instruction and stations can increase engagement, equity, and access in the mathematics classroom.
Targeted Audience:
